In the Moroccan city of Casablanca stands the imposing and impressive Hassan II Mosque, also known as the Grand Mosque. This tapestry is inspired by the extensive and impressive mosaic tile work (also known as ‘zillij) that is seen throughout the vast courtyards and exterior walls of the mosque, this particular section taken from a wall behind a well visited public fountain. The tapestry picks up on the imperfect tiles and their irregular shades of colour as they have been exposed to the sun and wind over the years.
