Pure wool on 10 count canvas

Stitched wool is used to represent the floral architectural form of this Australian native flower. Freestyle blending of colours in every stitch is used to illustrate the fine, inform form of the individual flower head as well as their arrangement on the branch. The viewer is invited to ponder how the stitched needlepoint tapestry can so realistically illustrate the bloom that is formed by the delicate pin-like stamens, the new buds and delicate leaves and twigs.
