Original, hand-stitched in 2012
Pure wool on 11-count needlepoint canvas
264 × 65 cm
This needlepoint is inspired by the expansive wall of ‘zellige’ tiles at the Saadian Tombs in Marrakech, which date back to the 16th century. The site is the burial place of the Saadian dynasty. Colourful mosaic and lattice-like plasterwork stand today in the tombs as a testament to the skill of the artisans of the time.
